Steven Gross is a retired partner and former Co-Chair of the firm’s Restructuring Group. Mr. Gross represented debtors, creditors and investors in US and international restructurings. Chambers USA (2013) described Mr. Gross as a leader in bankruptcy law and he was noted as “always a great source of knowledge, and brings a level of experience and calmness to any situation.” In addition, The Legal 500 US (2013) described Mr. Gross as having a “razor-sharp mind,” Chambers Global (2012) and IFLR1000 (2012) have each ranked Mr. Gross as a leading bankruptcy lawyer.

Mr. Gross is the co-author of Collier Business Workout Guide (Matthew Bender, 2009), with Richard Hahn and Michael Wiles, and several other articles for industry publications including “Extra-Territorial Application of the Automatic Stay,” Law 360 (2010) with Katherine Ashton and “The Globopar Financial Restructuring: A New Model for International Workouts,” International Corporate Rescue (2006) with Katherine Ashton, Jasmine Ball and Lisa Gan. Mr. Gross is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Mr. Gross joined Debevoise in 1973 and became a partner in 1981. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University in 1968 and 1969, respectively, his LL.B. from Cambridge University in 1971, and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1973, where he was a member of theYale Law Journal.
