Peter Hockless, who retired as a partner on 1 July 2015, was formerly the head of the firm’s Finance Group in London, and has extensive experience in international financing transactions, including investment grade credits, leveraged financings, eurobonds, restructurings, securitisations, structured financings, project financings and corporate finance. In recent years he developed specific experience in emerging markets (in particular Russia) and fund financing for the firm's investment fund clients.
He has represented many of the leading U.S. and European banks and other financial institutions (including JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas and ABN AMRO) as well as private equity sponsors, investment funds and international corporations. Mr. Hockless, described simply as “excellent” by clients and peers, was recommended for acquisition finance work in The Legal 500 UK (2014), and for Capital Markets as well as Banking and Finance by IFLR 1000 (2015). He was also ranked as a leading individual in Chambers Global (2013 & 2014) which recognised him for having “significant experience of cross-border finance transactions,” “a strong focus on emerging markets” and as being “sought for his specific expertise in Russia-related matters.”

Mr. Hockless joined the firm as a partner in 2003. He is a graduate of St. John’s College, Cambridge (1978). He is also a member of the Paris bar. He is fluent in English, French and German.
