Michael J. Stephan is a corporate associate and a member of the Capital Markets Group.

Mr. Stephan’s practice focuses on a broad range of transactional matters for public and private companies, and alternative asset managers, as well as on SEC and public disclosure compliance and corporate governance counseling for public company clients.

Mr. Stephan joined Debevoise in 2019. Mr. Stephan received his J.D. magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 2019, where he was a notes editor for the Brooklyn Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. Mr. Stephan received a B.A. from Stony Brook University in 2009 and an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University in 2010.

Mr. Stephan is the author of “Persecution Restitution: Removing the Jurisdictional Roadblocks to Torture Victim Protection Act Claims,” 84 Brooklyn Law Review 1355 (2019).
