Marwan Al-Turki is a retired partner. Mr. Al-Turki was a leading UK private investment fund formation lawyer. He is the former Co-Chair of the firm’s European Private Equity Funds Group. Mr. Al-Turki focused his practice on structuring multi-jurisdictional private equity funds for offering to an international institutional investor base. He continues to advise such funds on matters relating to investments and realisation programmes.
Mr. Al-Turki also advised investment managers and other financial institutions on investment management mergers & acquisitions transactions, internal restructurings and financial services regulatory issues. Mr. Al-Turki is ranked as a Notable Practitioner in Chambers Global (2014). He is also listed as a “Leading Lawyer” for Investment Funds–Private Funds by IFLR 1000 (2014) and Chambers UK (2014) where he is described as having “significant expertise in fund structuring, particularly when operating on a multi-jurisdictional basis and catering to a global investor base.” Sources tell Chambers UK (2013) he is “particularly skilled when it comes to handling multi‑jurisdictional private funds matters" and "able to advise on a wide range of matters in this space, including investments and fund structuring”. Mr. Al-Turki has published numerous articles and books on matters relating to private equity funds and financial services regulation, and is a frequent public speaker in both areas. Recent publications include the regulatory issues chapter in the Middle East and Africa edition of the BVCA’s International Series (September 2013); "Shariah-compliant Private Equity Funds: What Private Equity Managers Need to Know”, The Eurekahedge Monthly (June 2007), and “The American Influence – the US Private Equity Model in Europe”, The Lawyer (April 2007). Mr. Al-Turki obtained his B.A. and M.A. in jurisprudence from Oxford University (Magdalen College) and qualified as an English solicitor in 1987. He is fluent in English, Arabic, French, Spanish and Italian and has a fair command of German and Portuguese.
