Jonathan R. Wong is a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Group. Mr. Wong’s practice focuses on banking regulatory, transactional and enforcement matters with special emphasis on anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions and financial crime compliance issues.
He counsels U.S. and non-U.S. banks and other financial institutions on their AML and sanctions compliance obligations, including assisting clients to develop and refine compliance policies and procedures. Mr. Wong also advises clients on supervisory matters including examinations, formal and informal enforcement actions, governance matters and regulatory reporting. He regularly supports the firm’s Private Equity, M&A, Finance and White Collar & Regulatory Defense practices in transactional and enforcement matters involving AML or sanctions-related issues.
Prior to rejoining the firm in 2024, Mr. Wong worked as a Product Manager at an anti-financial crime Regulatory Technology company working with U.S. and non-U.S. banks, fintechs, and crypto companies.
Mr. Wong received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 2018, where he was executive editor of articles for the Yale Journal of International Law. He received a B.A. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Southern California in 2013.
