Hans Bertram-Nothnagel is a retired partner. Mr. Bertram-Nothnagel was a member of the firm’s Finance Group and one of the founding partners of Debevoise’s Frankfurt office. Mr. Bertram-Nothnagel has represented non-U.S. airlines in aircraft financings and advised U.S. and international clients on a broad spectrum of cross-border corporate and financial transactions, with an emphasis on private placements. He led the team in the representation of Swiss International Air Lines in its 2002 fleet acquisition/financing program, a transaction which involved coordinating lawyers in several of the firm’s offices and negotiating leases for 54 aircraft under the laws of three different jurisdictions.

Mr. Bertram-Nothnagel is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Union Internationale des Avocats and the German-American Lawyers Association. He was a Fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel.

Mr. Bertram-Nothnagel joined the firm in 1973 and became a partner in 1981. Born in Munich, Germany, Mr. Bertram-Nothnagel received a Baccalaureate in 1963 from Altes Gymnasium (Bremen, Germany), a Rechtsreferendar in 1968 from Bayerische-Julius-Maximilian-Universität (Würzburg, Germany), an Assessor in 1971 from the Ministry of Law (Bavaria, Germany) and an LL.M. in 1973 from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law.
