Ellena Xu is an international associate based in Shanghai, whose practice focuses on M&A, PE/VC investments, real estate and foreign direct investments. Ms. Xu has advised multinational and PRC clients on numerous cross-border and domestic M&A projects as well as real estate projects. She has also represented a number of foreign and domestic private equity funds in investing, acquiring, restructuring and selling various portfolio companies in China.

Ms. Xu received her LL.B. in 2008 from Fudan University and received her LL.M. in 2019 from the University of Chicago. She is admitted to the New York Bar and the California Bar, and passed the PRC National Judicial Examination in 2009. Prior to joining Debevoise, Ms. Xu had over six years’ practice experience in a top tier PRC law firm and also worked in the legal department of Japan’s largest trading and investment company.

Ms. Xu’s native language is Mandarin and she is fluent in English and Japanese.
