Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is advising Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in its approximately U.S. $1 billion investment in a low-carbon ammonia production project at the Blue Point facility in Ascension Parish, Louisiana (“the Project”). Mitsui will make its investment together with CF Industries, the world’s largest ammonia producer, and JERA, Japan’s largest power generation operator. The Project includes the construction of one of the world’s largest low-carbon ammonia facilities and the production and sale of low-carbon ammonia. The Project plans to utilize carbon capture and sequestration technologies and expects to reduce CO2 emissions during the production process by more than 95%.
