Debevoise & Plimpton LLP today announced that disputes partner Tony Dymond will relocate to the firm’s Hong Kong office, effective June 2024.
Mr. Dymond is Co-Chair of the firm’s Asia Arbitration practice and focuses on complex, multijurisdictional disputes, in both litigation and arbitration. He has advised clients in a wide range of jurisdictions, having spent the last 25 years in London, Hong Kong and Seoul. He is widely acknowledged as a leading lawyer in high-value disputes arising from large-scale projects, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He also regularly acts on shareholder and joint venture disputes and on corporate governance disputes. He is admitted in both England & Wales and Hong Kong and has appeared in arbitrations under the principal arbitration rules and in the English and Hong Kong courts.
Peter Furci, Presiding Partner at Debevoise, comments: “Clients in Asia turn to the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Group for their most complex disputes. Tony’s move to Hong Kong, as an established practitioner known for his extensive knowledge gained over decades of experience in Asia, further strengthens our ability to meet their needs.”
Mr. Dymond’s presence in Hong Kong enhances Debevoise’s already deep investment in the region. Other senior members of the Debevoise team, including partners Catherine Amirfar, Lord Goldsmith KC, Gareth Hughes, Samantha Rowe, Jeffrey Sullivan KC and international counsel, Cameron Sim, continue to be heavily involved in shaping the arbitration environment in Asia. In part, this has taken the form of serving in leadership roles in bodies such as the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).
2024 marks Debevoise’s 30th anniversary in Hong Kong. Today, the firm is regarded as one of the strongest in the region for private equity, insurance, M&A, and disputes advice. Its lawyers possess decades’ worth of experience in Asia in these areas.
