Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announced today that Samuel Fung has joined the firm’s Hong Kong office as an international counsel in the Litigation Practice.
Mr. Fung joins the firm from the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) in Hong Kong, where he was a counsel in its legal services division.
In his new role at Debevoise, Mr. Fung will advise the firm’s clients on the full spectrum of litigation matters, including white collar and investigations work. In particular, drawing on his experience at the SFC, he will be well positioned to help guide the firm’s clients through the various civil, criminal and disciplinary proceedings and investigations being conducted by the SFC.
Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, Mr. Fung will also add to Debevoise’s existing language capabilities in its Hong Kong office.
“I’m excited to be welcoming Samuel to the Debevoise team,” said Mark Johnson, Managing Partner for Debevoise in Hong Kong. “We already have one of the premier litigation and regulatory practices in Hong Kong. Bringing in someone with Samuel’s background and skillset at a time when clients in the region are likely to face a more proactive regulator will only cement that. Samuel is a talented lawyer, and he’ll be an important part of our senior team in Hong Kong for years to come.”
Mr. Fung is admitted to practice as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales.
