Debevoise & Plimpton LLP M&A partners Jonathan Levitsky, Sue Meng and Jeffrey Rosen were named “Dealmakers of the Year” by The American Lawyer for their role in advising Discovery in its $43 billion acquisition of WarnerMedia from AT&T. The agreement, which was structured as a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, was completed in record time in only two weeks and was the largest deal of 2021, valuing the combined entity at approximately $130 billion. The American Lawyer’s annual “Dealmaker of the Year” list recognizes the leading corporate lawyers and transactions of the previous year.
Mr. Levitsky’s practice focuses primarily on public and private M&A and joint ventures. He has led transactions across many industries but has a particular focus in the technology, media and telecommunication sectors. He is a member of the firm’s M&A, Private Equity and Technology, Media & Telecommunications Groups.
Ms. Meng, who was previously selected by The American Lawyer as a “Dealmaker of the Year” in 2020, focuses her practice on advising public companies, private equity firms, boards of directors and special committees in connection with mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and other significant corporate matters. Ms. Meng has also been recognized by Law360 as a 2021 M&A MVP and by The Deal as a 2020 “TMT Dealmaker of the Year”. She is a member of the firm’s M&A, Private Equity and Technology, Media & Telecommunications Groups and co-chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
Mr. Rosen’s practice focuses on M&A, complex joint ventures, restructurings and securities offerings, and corporate governance matters. He also counsels boards and senior management on critical governance issues, including risk management, activist challenges and restructurings. He is a member of the M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets Groups and is chair of the firm’s Corporate Department.
