Debevoise & Plimpton LLP lawyer Raeesa Rawal has been named Best Woman In Construction Law in The European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards.
Celebrating its 7th year, the awards are the most prestigious event celebrating the achievements of women in construction and engineering. The winners are decided by a panel of senior industry judges, following hundreds of nominations, with finalists all invited to a judging day.
Two of the four finalists in the Best Woman In Construction Law category were from Debevoise, with Sophia Burton being named alongside eventual winner Raeesa Rawal on the shortlist.
Raeesa Rawal is an associate in the firm’s London office whose practice focuses on construction arbitration. She advises on high-value and complex international construction and engineering disputes in both the public and private sector. Ms. Rawal has heavy involvement in both construction law academia and industry bodies in various jurisdictions, including ongoing lecturing engagements with the University of Stuttgart as part of its International Construction Practice and Law Masters Degree, and has been recognised as a ‘2020 Rising Star’ in the field of Construction Law by Expert Guides.
Fellow finalist Sophia Burton is also an associate in the firm’s London office, with extensive experience in advising clients in the energy, infrastructure and construction sectors on high-value and complex international disputes. Ms. Burton has supported her clients with all the main dispute resolution procedures, and also has experience in non-contentious construction matters. Ms. Burton has been named a Future Leader for Construction by Who’s Who Legal (2020).
