In a new report from GivX, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has been recognised as having one of the leading community investment programmes amongst law firms in the UK.
GivX calculates the value an organisation adds to the community through volunteering and donations. This is presented as an annual GivX score, equating to a per-employee pound value.
This year, Debevoise was amongst the top three contributing law firms, and the 9th highest scoring company overall out of all 111 participants.
Debevoise’s contribution through professional volunteering in particular was celebrated as one of the top five out of contributors across all sectors.

Since the firm’s founding in 1931, its pro bono work has been central to its culture. The firm focusses on helping underserved and vulnerable communities tackle social problems and solve complex legal issues.
One recent example was Debevoise’s work with the Center for Reproductive Rights in submitting communications to the UN Human Rights Committee, asking for Nicaragua, Guatemala and Ecuador to be found in breach of its international human rights obligations. The petitions concerned four women who were systematically abused and raped when they were children, and became pregnant at the age of 14 or younger. To view a video profiling the work, click here.
