Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Megan K. Bannigan will become counsel at the firm and Edwin Northover will become international counsel at the firm. Their promotions will become effective on July 1.

Ms. Bannigan, resident in the New York office, is a member of the Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on trademark, copyright, false advertising, rights of publicity and related matters. As a member of the Intellectual Property and Media Group, she represents clients across a range of industries, including fashion, entertainment, sports, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. Ms. Bannigan also has experience with general commercial litigation, white collar/regulatory defense and restructuring, as well as an active pro bono practice focusing on education law, constitutional violations and intellectual property. Ms. Bannigan joined the firm in 2007. From 2008 to 2009, she clerked for the Hon. Mary Little Cooper of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Ms. Bannigan received her J.D. with high honors from Rutgers School of Law – Camden in 2007, where she served as Production Editor of the Rutgers Law Journal. She received a B.A. with honors from Rutgers College in 2002. Ms. Bannigan is a member of the Bars of New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the Southern District of New York and the District of New Jersey.

Mr. Northover, resident in the Hong Kong office, is a member of the Corporate Department. He has a broad, cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions practice, with a particular focus on transactions in the insurance industry. Since moving to Debevoise’s Hong Kong office in 2012, Mr. Northover has worked on several of the most significant insurance M&A transactions in Asia. He also has extensive private equity experience, having worked on a number of acquisitions and co-investments. Mr. Northover joined Debevoise in 2007 and was based in the firm’s London office prior to his move to Asia. He is qualified in both England & Wales and Hong Kong.
