John Sullivan Baker is a law clerk in the Litigation Department.

Mr. Sullivan Baker joined Debevoise in 2024. He received a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. During law school, he externed in the Civil Rights Division, Voting Section, of the U.S. Department of Justice and wrote for Lawfare as a student contributor. He graduated from the ILR School at Cornell University in 2020.

Mr. Sullivan Baker is the author of “The Case for Federal Deference to State Court Redistricting Rulings: Lessons from Ohio’s Districting Disaster,” 2 Fordham L. Voting Rts. & Democracy F. 96 (2023). He is a co-author of “SEC Enforcement Actions Fall Significantly As Crypto and Text Message Cases Predominate,” Securities Docket (November, 2024);
