The article encourages data controllers to review their data protection compliance with a view to the trend of European data protection authorities to cooperate in the data protection enforcement on a German, European and international level. Detailed enforcement cooperation mechanisms under the upcoming European General Data Protection Regulation increase the pressure on compliance systems. The authors further refer to already existing German law-instruments designed to bundle individual interests for collective action seeking remediation for data protection violations and the Regulation framework for collective action on behalf of individuals.
