Who's Your Granddaddy? Is Your Medical Plan Really Exempt From Health Care Reform?
The jig is up. The election is over, health care reform is here to stay, and employers have no more excuses to delay implementing the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (the ACA) that apply or will apply to their medical plans as the various provisions of the ACA become effective. As employers scramble to ensure they are in compliance with the ACA, they should bear in mind that not all of the new rules apply to so-called ‘‘grandfathered’’ plans.
