If you are a third-year law student or a lateral candidate, please submit a cover letter detailing your practice area interest and office preference, along with your resume and law school transcript, to our Legal Recruiting Department at
recruit@debevoise.com.
If you are a judicial clerk, we encourage you to discuss the timing of your interviews with your judge before applying to Debevoise. Please submit your application, which should include a cover letter, resume and law school transcript, any time during your clerkship.
2. What should I bring to my interview?
Please bring copies of your resume and law school transcript to the interview. Writing samples and references are not required.
3. What expenses does the firm reimburse?
For in-office interviews, we reimburse all reasonable travel, meal and hotel expenses. Debevoise has an in-house travel department that can assist you in making appropriate arrangements.
4. After interviewing, when will I find out if I have received an offer?
We try to make offer decisions as soon as possible after receiving the interviewers' comments. Our hiring committee meets frequently to review files. You should expect to hear from us within 5-7 days after your interview.
5. What if I still have questions after receiving an offer?
We invite you to return to the office to meet with additional lawyers. If you are unable to make a return visit, we would be happy to put you in touch with lawyers who will be able to answer your questions via phone or email.
6. What is the dress code?
The year-round dress code at Debevoise is business casual. We do recommend, however, that you keep a suit in your office should you attend a client meeting or make a court appearance.
