Debevoise Named the 2024 “Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year” by Managing IP

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has been named “Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year” at the 2024 Managing IP Americas Awards in recognition of the firm’s leading work on trademark-related disputes throughout the United States during the past year. Additionally, Managing IP named David H. Bernstein, Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Group, to the “Litigator of the Year - New York” shortlist.

The Managing IP Awards program recognizes remarkable achievements and developments in the last year. It is one of the most comprehensive and widely respected IP law firm awards programs in the world and covers a broad range of IP practice areas and more than 30 jurisdictions.

The Debevoise Intellectual Property Litigation Group handles a wide variety of cases around the world, including trademark, trade dress and advertising disputes; copyright matters in media and entertainment; domain name and Internet disputes; right of publicity issues; and unfair competition, trade secret and patent cases. Many of its cases have cross-border components, and it has deep experience across a wide range of industries. During the last year, several of the Group’s leading decisions were recognized in The American Lawyer’s “Litigator of the Week” column, including a significant trademark trial victory in Texas on behalf of Casa Azul Spirits LLC, securing an appellate victory in the Seventh Circuit on behalf of Grubhub in a case affirming the denial of a preliminary injunction, and in securing a preliminary injunction in California in a trademark infringement suit for SocioMX against Socios.com. Among the Group’s other major accomplishments in the last year include securing affirmance of summary judgment for Bank of America in a trademark dispute before the Tenth Circuit, successfully arguing an appeal before the Federal Circuit on behalf of Fortinet against Realtime Data, and securing the denial of a motion for preliminary injunction on behalf of Printify, LLC and its founder, Janis Berdigans.
