Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has once again been awarded a perfect score of 100 in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), its annual ranking of LGBT employment policies, which designated the firm as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.” This is the eighth consecutive year that Debevoise has been awarded a perfect score.
The CEI provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees. The 2016 CEI ranked a total of 1,027 businesses, and 407 of them received a perfect score. In 2002, the first year the index was compiled, only 13 businesses achieved a top score, underscoring the remarkable advances that have taken place in LGBT equality in the workplace.
Companies are evaluated on their LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
Based in Washington, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of the nation’s largest advocacy group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans.
